The Best Bio-Hack for Business Success: Better Sleep

“Sleep is something executives should take as seriously as their stock options”…

With the likes of Elon Musk, Richard Branson and Barack Obama reported to do their best work on just 5-6 hours sleep each night, you’d be forgiven for thinking this was a recipe for success. After all, even Steve Jobs was renowned for burning the candle at both ends, but today many executives and CEOs are placing a huge importance on quality sleep.

“I just feel so much better all day long if I’ve had eight hours,” Jeff Bezos, billionaire and CEO of Amazon told the Wall Street Journal. “I’m more alert and I think more clearly.” Bill Gates is another proponent of a decent nights nap, stating that seven hours is what he needs to stay sharp, creative and upbeat.

Interestingly, different people can operate on different sleep patterns. What’s unanimous though, is the quality of that sleep. Solid, uninterrupted rest is restorative for our bodies and minds, a prerequisite for doing serious business and making good decisions.

Better performance through sleep

With health and wellness being a rapidly expanding market and the desire for maximizing human performance being talked about everywhere from the gym through to the boardroom, sleep is something executives should take as seriously as their stock options. It now spawns an industry that Silicon Valley investors are jumping on to the tune of billions.

Even the US Army has proclaimed sleep to be the pillar of peak soldier performance. Several companies in the US have run the data and know the real value of a well-rested workforce. The productivity these workers are capable of on a solid nights sleep is so important that some companies are even offering a $500 bonus to employees who can prove they’ve slept for seven hours each night for 20 straight days (using apps).

Sleep hacking

However, Forbes recently ran a feature about sleep hacking with the author making a case that your seven to eight hours sleep doesn't necessarily have to be all in one go. By breaking down sleep patterns and incorporating routine ‘power naps’ productivity can spike just as much as those who sleep a solid night.

As more and more CEOs endorse quality shut-eye as a formula for success, it becomes an area worth serious attention.

Luxury Sleep Mask - Pink

Amazing mask

Great coverage and smells gorgeous. As a light sensitive sleeper this mask is a godsend

Probably the best socks on the world.

Lovely sleep mask

These are great. So comfortable you will forget you have it on. This is my second - the other is somewhere hiding in the house. I had to replace it and despite the price!!! there was really no competition. I wish there was a no lavender option (I don't like the smell) as I have to wash it immediately to get rid of the smell, otherwise this is really great.

Eye mask

Had several of these now - brilliant eye mask

nice Socks

Compression is great and they look pretty nice.
